Orlando, USA, April 28, 2025 Mirage, the Italian company specializing in the production of ceramic surfaces for architecture and interior design, will participate in Coverings 2025, the leading North American trade show dedicated to the surface coverings industry, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, from April 29 to May 2, 2025.

On this occasion, Mirage will present several important innovations: diverse projects united by their ability to combine aesthetics, innovation, and sustainability.

ReGea: A New Generation of Sustainable Surfaces

ReGea is the latest evolution of the ReSource project, Mirage’s programme dedicated to material regeneration and low environmental impact production. This is not simply a new collection, but an innovative ceramic system incorporating 63% regenerated materials, carefully sourced from external production partners that Mirage actively supports, helping to create a virtuous and circular supply chain.

ReGea also marks a further step forward: its formulation includes 3% recycled glass sourced from decommissioned photovoltaic panels, a solution that addresses complex technical challenges and opens new paths toward eco-efficiency in the ceramic sector.

The collection is produced with an optimized thickness of 8 mm, a choice that reflects a commitment to a sustainable footprint without compromising on design or intended use. This seemingly minor technical detail has a substantial impact, resulting in reduced use of resources and lower energy consumption throughout the production cycle. Moreover, in terms of transportation, this choice optimizes space and increases logistical efficiency, leading to a decrease in CO₂ emissions per square meter of products transported.

Aesthetically, ReGea draws inspiration from the native stones of Sicily. For millennia, this has been a land of stone and culture, a crossroads of civilizations that have shaped its landscape and architectural heritage. Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Normans have all left their mark, transforming the island’s rocks into timeless temples, cathedrals, palaces, and pavements.

The art of stoneworking is deeply rooted in Sicilian identity, a tradition that spans centuries and is expressed through iconic materials such as Ragusa and Comiso limestone, Pietra Pece, and lava stone from Mount Etna.

ReGea embraces this heritage and reinterprets it through Mirage porcelain stoneware, transforming raw material into contemporary surfaces that speak the language of history and sustainability.

Each line is a faithful interpretation of one of the island’s symbolic stones, created for those seeking surfaces with strong character and cutting-edge performance.

  • Ragusia is a journey ino the most authentic Sicily, where material becomes a tale of history and tradition. The dark, enveloping Pietra Pece evokes the elegance of theatres and aristocratic flooring, with its rich allure and deep tones. Alongside it, Comiso stone captures the soul of elegant, authentic Sicily, with soft tones and refined, textured patterns. Two souls of the same land, united in perfect balance between expressive strength and delicate elegance, for a style that celebrates the timeless beauty of Sicilian heritage.
  • Sciara celebrates the natural force that has shaped Sicily’s landscape, reinterpreted by Mirage in porcelain stoneware to evoke movement and depth, bringing the essence of volcanic fire into contemporary spaces. ‘Sciara’ is the Sicilian dialect word for ‘lava flow’ — a poetic term that narrates the journey of flowing magma, forged in the burning heart of Mount Etna.

With ReGea, Mirage redefines the concept of sustainable ceramic surfaces, demonstrating how design, innovation, and environmental responsibility can coexist in harmony.

Terrae: a material emotion between light and space

Terrae x AMDL CIRCLE
Terrae x AMDL CIRCLE

The Terrae collection results from a collaboration between Mirage and AMDL CIRCLE, the design and architecture practice founded by Michele De Lucchi and led by Angelo Micheli and Davide Angeli. This project transforms ceramics into a stage of shapes, lights, and textures, narrating the harmonious meeting of natural elements and human creativity.

Part of Atelier Mirage – the brand’s creative laboratory – Terrae offers surfaces that tell stories, evoke memories, and redefine space.

The design of the Terrae collection unfolds around three main themes, each exploring a unique aspect of the dialogue between material, memory, and life in their journey of transformation and growth:

  • ATMO – a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Italian tiles, featuring raised graphic patterns that interact with light to create geometric textures and depth effects.
  • IDRO – inspired by the delicate look of resin floors, with ton-sur-ton shades and decorative traces that evoke light rain, bringing calm and harmony to interior spaces.
  • LITO – a celebration of the relationship between solid and void, where light and air filter through like modern-day moucharabieh, transforming ceramic into a three-dimensional sculpture that shapes the environment.

Terrae invites us to rethink the role of ceramic surfaces as living elements, capable of generating emotion, light, and storytelling within architectural spaces.

OLTRENERO x Nerosicilia
Stone, fire, memory.

Oltrenero is a decorative project developed in collaboration with the design collective Nerosicilia, exploring the malleability of stone - a true journey through the material itself that goes beyond the sole use of lava stone to embrace the full spectrum of Sicily’s native stones, from Pietra Pece to the stones of Comiso and Ragusa. It investigates their expressive potential through artisanal processes and thermal treatments.

The result is a collection of unique, three-dimensional surfaces with surprising material depth, redefining the dialogue between nature, design, and innovation.

With Oltrenero, stone is not merely transformed but interpreted, revealing the geological memory of the land through textures, engravings, and reflections. Each surface becomes an architectural statement — an expression where experience and innovation engage in a dialogue with the material.

A Selection of Signature Collections

Alongside ReGea, Terrae x AMDL CIRCLE and Oltrenero, visitors to Mirage’s space at Coverings will discover a curated selection of Atelier Mirage projects and sustainable surfaces from the ReSource range.

Among these are the collections Plumage x Alfonso Femia, Nagomi x Hadi Teherani, Indomita x Letizia Ballotti, as well as Izumi, Onyce, and the technical series Twelve 12mm.
